Fresh coat of paint

paintwall

I’m looking at empty walls this morning … empty but freshly painted and alive with possibility! At this stage, I get to reconsider everything about these walls – what to hang, what not to hang, where to hang and in what configuration! What is the purpose for hanging anything? What happens when I decorate with purpose?

Of course I wonder what the parallel is for our personal beings:

  • What needs to come down– permanently?
  • What is a fresh coat of paint when it comes to our selves?
  • What purpose will guide the redecorating?

What I know about both the walls in this room and about my personal being is this: less is more. Simplicity is freedom.

What about you… what is ready for a fresh coat of paint?

Locked out!

Lock

This morning I woke early and took my first cup of coffee to the front porch. The stillness was sacred. The quiet broken only by the wings of the hummingbird arriving at the feeder. Ah!

Then it was time to go back inside. I tried the lock. No luck. Locked out at 5:20 am in my pajamas! The spare key? Tried it. No go.

Thankfully, my hubby wakes easily when strange women speak through the bedroom windows! He let me in – then tried that spare key again. Of course if worked! “You just have to jiggle and wiggle a bit.” So I wonder, what is the lesson here?

How often have I felt locked out and too quickly abandoned the goal?
What would “jiggle and wiggle” have looked like in those instances?
What has me quitting too soon?

How about you?

What project, what habit, what desire have you given up on?
What is your needed jiggle?
Wiggle?
What would get you iggling?

What next?

Bring to mind a situation, relationship, belief that both challenges you and that you are ready to experience shift around.

Got it?  Now:

  • What would you like to see?
  • What stops you from seeing it?
  • What possible solutions do you see?
  • Which do you refuse to speak aloud?
  • What next?

Again …

What? Again. And again.

What goal have you set for yourself? Perhaps for the summer it is to get outside more and enjoy the weather. Maybe you have begun a new exercise program. Perhaps it’s daily meditation. Maybe, like me, you are practicing the belief that you are enough, you are lovable just the way you are!

Whatever it may be, today is a day to practice again, to do “it” again, to remind yourself again. The journey toward your goal is one day at a time, one step at a time, yet another repetition!

Can you do “it” again?
Will you?

The Night Sky

IMAG0542

Have you ever paused to be with the sky at sunset? When I pause for just a minute, what I notice most is how quickly it changes. Blink and I miss something! The same thing is true with a baby, yes? Turn around, let a week pass by, and that infant has visibly changed!

Hear this: the same is true for you and everyone you know. Each of us is as ever-changing as the night sky and the baby. The difference is, we don’t hold this truth in our awareness or feel its power. Take a moment. Breathe. Who you were yesterday, last week, last year, is so very different from you in this moment: your thoughts, the cells in your body, your emotions. Maybe the folks around you at work and home are the same folks as last year – maybe not. But you are different. They are different. So I ask:

Do you expect “same”?
Do you allow yourself to grow and change?
Do you allow others to grow and change?

If you believed that you and others are as ever-changing as the night sky:

What would be possible?
What would you see when you looked in the mirror?
How might your relationships expand?
